Hamming it up
Pork N Bands tradition continues
WCMS band members Alexis Baltimore, left, and Katelyn Shields tune up for next weekend's Pork N Bands at the middle school. It is set for Saturday, April 29 in the auditorium.

It’s sure to be a saucy performance next weekend when bands and BBQ come together for the musical tradition that’s none other than Pork N Bands.
Bands from WCHS and WCMS will be among the performers, but they will share the stage with the secret-recipe, mouth-watering BBQ that’s developed a groupie following of its own.
“We’d love for everyone to come out for some great music and great BBQ,” said WCHS band director Duane Farnham.
Pork N Bands is next Saturday, April 29, at the middle school. It will be held in the auditorium area beginning at 1 p.m. with games, face painting and other activities.
The WCHS Pioneer Pride Marching Band highlights the day with its final public performance of the school year and the last for this group of graduating seniors. The band will be playing the song “My Shot” from “Hamilton the Musical,” along with songs from the soundtrack to “Aladdin.”
WCMS band director Brenda Duke says her musicians have done an outstanding job to prepare for this year-end exclamation point.
“The progress they’ve made since November has been great to see,” said Duke.
