Halloween was not quite the same as in years past.
In collaboration with McMinnville Electric System and Security Federal Savings Bank and Financial Services, the Southern Standard sponsored two photo contests for members of our community to restore some sense of normalcy.
Children ages 0-12 were encouraged to take pictures wearing their most frighteningly fantastic costumes for the Halloween Costume Contest for the community to vote for their favorite ghoul or goblin. The Pumpkin Carving Photo Contest appealed more to the artistic side as crafty individuals of all ages entered their carefully designed pumpkins.
Both activities stretched from Oct. 5 to Oct. 31 and received enthusiastic participation with over 50 entries and 700 votes cast on www.southernstandard.com.
Winners of the Halloween Costume Contest are:
1st Place – Maverick Solomon
2nd Place – Alexander Rodriquez
3rd Place – Jax and Spencer Honeycutt
Winners of the Halloween Pumpkin Carving Contest are:
1st Place – Khloe, Abigail and Kora Adcock
2nd Place – Jessica Higgins
3rd Place – Brittany Larke
First place in each contest receives $40, second place takes home $20, and third place receives $10.
Winners are encouraged to contact us at 473-2191 or drop into the Southern Standard office during business hours Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. to pick up their prizes.
