County Executive Jimmy Haley took advantage of having a member of the Health Department at Warren County’s weekly COVID-19 press conference by getting his flu vaccine.
“I want to thank April for being here today to give me my flu shot,” said Haley. “I get one every year and I’ve not had the flu in I can’t remember when. With respiratory issues, I try to take pneumonia shots and flu shots regularly in order to battle my pulmonary issues.”
Warren County Health Department representative April Fincher administered the shot to Haley and encouraged everyone to get the vaccine.
“The flu vaccinations are available now and they are free to everyone. We highly recommend you get your flu vaccine,” said Fincher. “The process to get your flu vaccine at the Health Department is to call once you arrive and we will take your information by phone. A nurse will come out to your car and administer the flu vaccine curbside.”
Appointments for the vaccine are available as well by calling 473-8468. Health Department hours are Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
“We will be having a fight flu day where we have an all-day flu drive-thru and that will be Thursday, Nov. 19 from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m.,” said Fincher. “We will be having a drive-thru at the Health Department on other days but we do not have those dates and times available yet. I will get that information to Mr. Haley when we have it.”
Fincher also reminded everyone the National Guard is performing free COVID-19 testing at the Health Department from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m. Monday through Friday.
