County Executive Jimmy Haley was surprised with a plaque thanking him for his service to the community during the Warren County Commission meeting Monday night.

Commissioner Cole Taylor did a special presentation during the meeting in an effort to thank Haley for his service over the past four years. Monday night was Haley’s last County Commission meeting as County Executive.

“This person always goes above and beyond and is always recognizing people that have put in a lot of time and a lot of effort for our county,” said Taylor. “He himself has actually spent three quarters of his life, over 40 something years, dedicating his time and his service and stuff like that to the county as a volunteer, as an educator, as one time our city mayor, and now he has been our county executive for four years.”

Taylor acknowledged he and Haley did not always agree, but he said he still respects him for his hard work.

“We haven’t always agreed and sometimes we have butted heads, but I respect you for your opinions, your hard work, and you’ve done a fine job,” said Taylor. “I know you are going to continue to do so. I would like to give you this and I think I speak for all of us when I say this, Executive Haley we appreciate you and thank you for your time and your service and I know it will continue on for the rest of your life.”

The plaque is from the commissioners and reads, “Thank you for your service to our community.”

“Thank you for allowing me to serve and like Cole alluded to, I haven’t given up serving yet,” said Haley.
