A man faces charges for making up a gunfight that never happened, telling lawmen he exchanged fire with thieves and was even grazed by two bullets.Investigators say the tale they were told by Roger Dale Newby, 63, is complete fiction and he is facing criminal charges as a result of his storytelling. Newby is charged with filing a false report and vandalism. He will face hearing before Judge Bill Locke on May 26.His charges come after he reported to the sheriff’s department that someone tried to steal a Chevy truck belonging to his stepson on Davis Road.
