Girl, 10, falls to her death at state park

Fall Creek Falls, at 256 feet, is one of the highest waterfalls in the eastern United States.
A 10-year-old girl died Wednesday evening after she fell “a couple hundred feet” from a cliff at Fall Creek Falls State Park, according to Eric Ward, communications director for the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation.According to a witness, Grace Goodwin lost her footing and fell from an area off the main trail, Ward said. She was pronounced dead at the scene.Her father, who TDEC says is from Memphis, and younger sister were nearby at the time of the fall.“At this point, it appears to be an accident,” Ward said. “Our thoughts and prayers are with the family during this most difficult time.”
