A 58-year-old woman was killed Thursday morning as her car was crossing the bypass in a crash nearly identical to one just three days earlier.
Delacy Gibson, 58, died in the accident that happened Thursday morning around 7:30 a.m. at the intersection by McMinnville Funeral Home. Her passenger, Wind D. Joseph, 41, was airlifted.
According to the Highway Patrol, Gibson was driving a Saturn when she pulled from Oriole Drive. When she did so, she entered the path of a Jeep Grand Cherokee that was driven by Christopher Northcutt, 22, who was traveling on the bypass toward the high school.
Northcutt and his passenger, Jacob Topplewell, 23, were not injured.
"We can't confirm which vehicle ran the red light," said state trooper Brent Collier who investigated the crash.
The crash is nearly identical to one which happened Monday afternoon. The vehicles involved in that collision were both traveling in the same directions as the Thursday morning crash.
Police chief Bryan Denton says the intersections along the bypass are the worst in the city for crashes.
