Warren County Schools has received four applicants for the position of Director of Schools with five days remaining.
“I recognize two of the names as being with the school system currently,” said human resource director Roy Pierce. “Two are definitely not local. They seem to be from out of state.”
Specifically, those individuals are from New Mexico and Utah.
Applicants have until this Friday, Feb. 28, to apply.
School Board members are seeking a replacement for Director of Schools Bobby Cox, who announced his retirement and will be leaving at the end of the school year. The six-member School Board hires the county's top school system position.
Warren County School Board members will review applicants and determine those to be interviewed the first full week in March. They are scheduled to name the new director during the week of March 30. Those dates are according to a timeline.
Cox attended what will be one of his final sessions of the Warren County Commission on Tuesday, Feb. 18. After presenting a monthly report, he offered his appreciation to commissioners for their support.
“I would like to say thank you to the commission for the support given to me over the years,” said Cox. “Hopefully, in May we will have my replacement so that I can introduce them to you. I really do appreciate the commission’s support for Warren County Schools over the past eight years and the continued support I know that you will have in the future.”
Applicants must submit a letter of interest, current resume, university transcripts, contact information for three professional references, and a copy of Tennessee or other state license and certifications.
