A Smithville resident and former McMinnville Police Department officer faces charges after being accused of domestic violence.

Chris Scott Odom, 31, was charged with domestic assault after an April 10 incident involving an intimate partner.

According to the criminal complaint by McMinnville Police Investigator Stuart Colwell, Odom committed a criminal assault by placing [the victim] in fear and by placing his hands on [the victim] in an attempt to take a ring off her left hand by force.

“[The victim] and Odom were in a domestic relationship,” said Colwell.

Other than the incident occurring in Warren County, no other details were available.

By City Hall records, Odom was hired by McMinnville Police Department on Nov. 1, 2016 and his employment ended almost three years later on Sept. 22, 2019.

Odom was taken into custody on Aug. 23. After posting a $2,500 bond, was released later that same day.
