Main Street Live is around the corner, and the Vietnam Veterans of America Royce Davenport Chapter is asking for support for Warren County Emergency Food Bank.

Members will be collecting nonperishable food items during this year’s Main Street Live summer concert series which is offered every Friday night from June 11 thru July 30 on the West Lawn of Security Federal Savings Bank on Main Street. Concerts begin at 7 p.m.

“We do this for people who are not as fortunate as we are,” said VVA president Mark E. Livengood. “We just hope people coming will bring a nonperishable item and drop it in the boxes.”

Nonperishable means anything canned, boxed, or bagged that does not require refrigeration such as canned tuna, salmon, vegetables, soups, stews, chili, rice, beans, crackers, peanut butter, mac and cheese, etc. Items cannot have an expired date and must be unopened.

Livengood added, “If every family brings one item, it will make a huge difference.”

The Food Bank is an organization dedicated to providing temporary emergency food assistance to local families. Applications for assistance must be made through Upper Cumberland Human Resources Agency located at Warren County Administrative Offices on Locust Street.

This will be the fifth year that VVA Royce Davenport Chapter has collected at Main Street Live concerts. Four boxes with the VVA logo on them will be located close to the stage on the right. “We just hope everything is a go this year,” Livengood said, “We’ll be there every Friday and stay throughout the show.”
