Sentenced to 10 years for role in robbery, attempted murder

Christopher Lavern Ferguson, 36, pleaded guilty to facilitation of attempted second-degree murder and facilitation of aggravated robbery. 

Ferguson was indicted for attempted first-degree murder and aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon in 2022 after reportedly robbing a man at gunpoint. Ferguson entered a voluntary plea of guilty to the amended charges of facilitation of attempted second-degree murder and facilitation of aggravated robbery and was sentenced to 10 years to serve 364 days in the Warren County Jail with the balance on supervised probation. He was also ordered to pay a fine of $50 plus court costs. 

According to the warrant, investigator Jared Jacobs was assigned to work a robbery on June 6, 2022 that occurred on Bluff Springs Road. Investigator Jacobs spoke with the victim, Jason Yates. Jacobs determined Dale Lee Deason Jr., along with Ferguson, robbed Yates at gunpoint near Stewart Road and the Bluff Springs Road intersection. During the robbery, Yates had his wallet, debit/credit cards, phone, pocket knife and approximately $20 stolen. 

According to the warrant, Yates was also shot during the robbery with a shotgun and had to be treated at Ascension Saint Thomas River Park Hospital. 

Along with being indicted for attempted first-degree murder and aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon, Deason was also indicted for possession of a firearm during the commission of a dangerous felony. His court appearance was reset for Feb. 28. 

Four others were also indicted in this case. Gracie Self, Jacoa Jade Martin, Hannah Ashburn and Quajonta Cason were all indicted for aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon. Their court dates were reset for April 10.
