With the holiday season being one of the busiest for the Families in Crisis shelter, local coordinators want to remind victims of domestic violence there is a place to turn in their time of need.“Families in Crisis wants the experience of leaving an abusive relationship to become less traumatic for victims by providing the resources needed to heal physically, mentally and financially,” said executive director Kristy Stubblefield. “Families in Crisis wants to decrease the likelihood that a victim will return to the abuser by improving their ability to remain self-sufficient.”FIC answered over 1,900 crisis calls in 2016. The local facility provided shelter to 102 victims for 1,544 bed nights and provided direct services to 545 victims of domestic/ sexual violence.
