The Noon Exchange Club of McMinnville is currently accepting nominations for local veterans from all branches of the military to be featured in its 2018 Salute to Veterans Calendar. The only requirement for nomination is the veteran is currently living in Warren County.
This is the second year for the patriotic calendar, which serves as a fundraiser for the club and for Veterans Matter, a partner organization of the National Exchange Club. The calendar will include a photo of each veteran, along with information about their military service.
“Our 2017 Veterans Calendar was a huge success,” said Noon Exchange president Dr. Karla Addesso. “We were able to raise a considerable amount of money for Veterans Matter, which helps to house homeless veterans in Tennessee and across the U.S. I know the calendar meant so much to our club and to the community.”
Once nominations are received, the chosen veterans will be photographed by Shelly and David Miller of Miller Photography and interviewed. At least one calendar signing event is being planned to further honor the 2018 veterans.
Shelly, who is a member of Noon Exchange and serves as project chair, says, “David and I are honored to take part in this project for a second year. Spending time with these veterans and telling their stories through photos has been an incredible experience for us. We appreciate the opportunity to honor these brave individuals.”
Nomination forms can be picked up at the Main Street and Smithville Highway branches of Security Federal, at Ashley’s Attic on East Main Street and from any Noon Exchange Club member. The deadline for nominations is Monday, July 17 and the club plans to release the calendars in November.
