A drunk driver who plowed through a yard and nearly hit a house before running away on foot has been sentenced to 60 days in jail.The man, Ryan Hank Armstrong, 23, entered guilty pleas before General Sessions Judge Bill Locke to charges of leaving the scene of an accident, DUI, and reckless driving. He was directed to serve 60 days of an 11-month, 29-day sentence and to perform 24 hours public service work, attend DUI School, pay $400 plus costs and lose his driver license for one year.Deputy Derek Boles said Armstrong was traveling at a high rate of speed on Yager Road when he lost control of his vehicle and ran through a yard.“He hit three trees, a grill and came within inches of hitting the home,” the deputy revealed, noting the suspect bolted from the car with a bleeding head and ran away.He was found behind a nearby ballfield and was found to have a strong odor of alcohol. He was also belligerent.“He tried to head-butt Sgt. Billy Joe Crouch,” Boles said, noting the suspect cursed lawmen as they took him into custody and continued his defiant conduct even as doctors were trying to patch up his injuries.
