A wreck occurred on South Chancery Street across from USA Gym on Tuesday afternoon after Rock Island resident Joan Turner got distracted by her beagle, Cooper. Turner, driving the Toyota Matrix pictured above, rear-ended McMinnville resident Beth Myers driving a Jeep Grand Cherokee. “She rammed into me, but I locked my brakes and barely missed the car in front of me,” said Myers. “I’ve never had an accident, but it’s a blessing no one was injured.” When asked about her account of the incident, Turner said it was caused from “a moment’s inattention.” McMinnville Police Department Lt. Mark Mara says Turner will be cited with careless driving due to having her dog in her lap.
