Fathers Day is a day of recognition for the role they have in their family’s lives, and that role is one this year’s Daddy & Me Photo Contest winner takes very seriously.
Dillon Lee was voted by the community as this year’s Daddy & Me Photo Contest winner for his photo featuring himself and his daughter Adaline fishing on a lake, an activity that is a staple for the Lee family. This year’s celebrations for Fathers Day found them in Gatlinburg, but the family usually hits the lake on a boat to bond over fishing and the outdoors.
“We go fishing all the time, spend a lot of time outside, Adaline loves to go fishing,” explained Lee. “The girls have horses, so they’re outside riding them a lot and they love it.”
Seeing them doing what they enjoy is one of the brightest spots in fatherhood for Lee. “The most rewarding part of being a dad is seeing them happy and having fun,” said Lee. “I love seeing them learn new skills and being able to be there for them while they do so.”
The Lee family is a blended household, as Lee has stepped into the role of step-father for two of the three children, Gunner and Madison. Lee’s family is comprised of Lee, his wife of almost 8 years Crystal, and children Gunner, 15, Maddison, 12, and Adaline, 5.
“I grew up with a stepfather so I know how meaningful that is. Stepping in and be a father to the kids is another incredibly rewarding part of being a father to me,” explained Lee.
Lee reports that he had no idea he was entered in the photo contest, and that his mother surprised him with the news. “She had entered me in it without telling me. She called me Sunday and was so excited that I won,” said Lee. “She was amazed I won, but we were thrilled to find out.”
As this year’s winner, Lee took home $50 courtesy of Lesa Scott and a $20 gift card from Crisp Springs Market.
