An Altamont woman was airlifted over the weekend after the vehicle in which she was riding slammed into a tree on Red Road.The woman, Patsy Basham, remained in critical condition Monday at Erlanger Medical Center in Chattanooga. The driver of the vehicle, Charles Herrin of Rock Island, escaped serious injury.According to sheriff’s department reports, the wreck happened on Red Road just outside McMinnville city limits around 5 p.m. Saturday. Herrin was reportedly traveling toward Francis Ferry Road (away from town) on Red Road when one of his wheels left the pavement.
