Fair Food Friday is being offered this Friday, Sept. 18, at Covenant Academy from 11 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. On the menu: Philly chicken sub, fries, can drink and chocolate cobbler for $10, or cheeseburger or hamburger, fries, can drink and chocolate cobbler for $10.

“The fair has been canceled, but we can still enjoy some fair food,” said Tina Lassiter, Covenant’s fundraising and events coordinator. “We know how our community looks forward to the fair food for that one week out of the year so we are taking our fair day off to cook up some Covenant Academy fair faves.”

Coronavirus took its toll on fundraising in 2020 with cancellation of the fair, a venue used by local nonprofits and schools to generate additional revenue.

“Covenant Academy, like many other nonprofits, has suffered the negative effects of COVID-19 with their fundraising,” said Lassiter. “Social distancing mandates have caused the cancellation of two consignment sales, the golf tournament, and possibly the fishing tournament as well as the A&L Fair being canceled, causing us to lose revenue from our food booth.”

Fair Food Friday preorders can be made until this Wednesday, Sept. 16, at 3 p.m. Orders may be faxed to (931) 668-6184, or made by phone or text to (931) 808-2379, or order and pay via PayPal at http://form.jotform.com/202316023864044

Delivery is available to businesses for orders of four or more. Those will be made between 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
