A couple shopping stoned at Goodwill with a baby in tow have been charged with child endangerment. The suspects, Heath Austin Conley, 30, and Wilma Lee Caswell, 48, are charged with both public intoxication and child endangerment. They will face hearing before General Sessions Judge Bill Locke on March 7.They were arrested after police were called to the Goodwill store to answer a complaint of two intoxicated persons. When they arrived, they found Conley and Caswell in apparent states of intoxication.“Mr. Conley had slurred speech and red eyes and was unsteady on his feet,” said McMinnville police officer Justin Colwell, noting the man said he had taken his prescriptions earlier in the day, explaining his demeanor even though being on prescription medications is not a defense to public intoxication or even drunk driving.Ms. Caswell also exhibited the same symptoms as Conley, with red eyes and unsteady balance and it had been reported she had been disorderly inside the store.“She said her blood sugar could be low and she had taken her prescriptions earlier,” Colwell said, noting he had paramedics dispatched to the scene where they tested the woman’s blood sugar.
