Wireless internet connections at Warren County Administrative Offices and Warren County Courthouse have been selected as priorities.
According to County Executive Jimmy Haley, the “ballpark” cost for wi-fi at the administrative building is $7,000 and the courthouse is $9,000.
Warren County Jail was originally included on the list of buildings in need of wi-fi, but numbers were not available when the county Budget and Finance Committee and Building and Grounds Committee met to consider how best to spend $1 million in grant monies allocated to Warren County government by Gov. Bill Lee.
Haley explained wi-fi is required as part of the county’s agreement with Energy Savings Group (ESG) to control HVAC systems for the buildings in one centralized location, as well as to advance the use of video arraignment at the courthouse.
“Before we do anything, we will bring back exact numbers,” said Haley.
Joint committee members unanimously voted to approve installation of wi-fi at the two buildings at a combined cost of $16,000. The measure will be sent to the full Warren County Commission for consideration.
