County rejects tax hike

Warren County commissioners rejected a property tax increase Monday night, opting instead to make it 14 years without an increase. The measure to increase the county’s tax rate from $1.96 to $2.06 failed 13-9, while an amendment to the leave the tax rate at $1.96 passed 13-9. Absent were Commissioners Teddy Boyd and Diane Starkey.Voting against the property tax increase and in favor of leaving the rate unchanged were Terry Bell, Carl D. Bouldin, Randy England, Linda Jones, Gary Martin, Michael Martin, Carolyn Miller, Gary Prater, Scott Rubley, Tommy Savage, Tyrone Sparkman, Blaine Wilcher, and Michael Shane Wilcher.
