Warren County government will be liquidating a piece of wooded property on Belmont Drive.
The land is located next to Pack Manufacturing, is 9.2 acres, and will be sold in as-is condition. Sealed bids will be taken with a minimum bid of $40,500 placed on the sale. That decision was made by members of the county Financial Management Committee.
“It’s a wooded, low-lying area, but there has been some interest from industry about the possibility of purchasing it,” said County Executive Jimmy Haley, chair of the county Financial Management Committee. “We cannot do a straight-out sale of a piece of property. We, basically, have two options: sealed bids or a public auction.”
In 2017, Pack Manufacturing owner Jerry Pack asked the county to consider selling a small section of its 9.2 acres as a way to straighten up his property lines. However, the request was rejected.
Haley said liquidating the property might boost business.
“It is whatever the wishes of Financial Management are to dispose of this property,” said Haley. “We can put something else back on the tax rolls and have the possibility of accommodating a business or industry that would like to build on the property. It’s a low-lying area so it will take some work. It will be sold as-is.”
County attorney Robert Bratcher said the county can accept more than the value of the property but not less, which is why committee members placed a bid minimum of $40,500.
While Warren County government currently owns the property, it is actually located within the city of McMinnville.
No date has been set for the property to be advertised.
