County offices to get new entrance mats

Cosmetic upgrades are leading to more expenditures at Warren County Administrative Offices.
The county Building and Grounds Committee has approved the expenditure of up to $1,500 for new carpet mats at the entrances of the building to match new carpet that was recently installed.
“We’ve got new carpet and we want to get new mats to match the carpet,” said Commissioner Carl E. Bouldin.
The old carpet’s replacement was prompted by buckling or rippling that was creating a tripping hazard. It was replaced with carpet tiles of a neutral color. Carpet tiles are square foot pieces of carpet that are mostly used in areas that face high foot traffic.
According to County Executive Hershel Wells, the mats are as old at the carpet and they too could trip someone.
“It would be something that would go with the carpet and hold in place a little better,” said Wells. “We need three or four of them.”
Committee members unanimously approved the expenditure. The carpets were replaced by Ole South Flooring for $41,143.
