County makes change to budget process
Department directors now required to fill out forms

Warren County government is trying to obtain consistency during departmental budget discussions.Beginning this year, department directors must fill out a form in making their requests for funding for fiscal year 2017-18.The forms, while making the appeal for funds to operate their departments, also provides county commissioners with information about the previous budget year: how much money they were given per line item and how much of that money was spent.“I just want to remind the committees that it’s time to begin preparing budgets,” said Commissioner Terry Bell, Budget and Finance Committee chair. “We now have a form that some of the commissioners have asked for. When directors provide their information, they will be able to provide a more detailed budget.
