AUGUST 6

Smyrna Church of Christ will be holding a gospel meeting Aug. 6-9 beginning with morning worship at 9 a.m. and Bible study to follow at 10 a.m. before an additional worship at 11 a.m. Mon. through Wed. worship will take place at 7 p.m. each night. Stan Stevenson will serve as the speaker and lunch will be provided after 11 a.m. service. All are invited to attend. Smyrna Church of Christ is located at 552 Myers Cove Rd.

The Lucky CIC will be meeting Aug. 7 at 6:30 p.m.


AUGUST 11

Dibrell Church of Christ is set to hold a gospel meeting on Aug. 11-13 with services beginning at 7 p.m. Fri. and Sat. Sun. service will be at 9 a.m. with Bible study at 10 a.m. Worship for Sun. evening will take place at 7 p.m. Dibrell Church of Christ is located at 23 Gills Rd.


AUGUST 12

Blue Hill Cumberland Church will hold a bake sale on Aug. 12 from 8 a.m. to noon.


Center Hill Cemetery’s Decoration Day will be Aug. 12 with a dinner taking place the night before on Aug. 11 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. The dinner will include a hamburger steak or chicken plate with fries, slaw, roll, drink and dessert for $10. Donations can be sent to Justin Rhea at 175 Whistle Pig Ln., McMinnville, TN 37110.


Browntown Church of Christ will be holding a ladies day program on Aug. 12. Registration begins at 9 a.m. with a program featuring Sister Annette Sanders as speaker at 9:30 a.m. The program’s theme will be “The Lord stood with me and gave me strength.” Lunch will be provided. All women are welcome to attend.


AUGUST 16

All are invited to attend Rock Island Cumberland Presbyterian Church’s monthly book review on Aug. 16 at 2 p.m. Deborah Maggart returns to review the book “American Nations: A History of the Eleven Rival Regional Cultures of North America” written by Colin Woodard. A bottle of water and discussions will be available after the one-hour review.


AUGUST 19

The Warren County Republican Party will be hosting a Reagan Day fundraiser dinner on Aug. 19 beginning at 6 p.m. at the Warren County High School gym. Guest speakers include U.S. Congressman John Rose, TN Conservative Editor Brandon Lewis, country singer/songwriter Jeffery Steele and Gary Humble from TN Stands Organization. The program begins at 6:30 p.m. and tickets are on sale through Aug. 15 for $40. Catering will be provided, including baked chicken and wild rice, slow-cooked roast beef, salad, green beans and an assortment of desserts. For more information, call Jean Ware at 931-686-2360.


The Warren County Genealogical & Historical Association will be holding its monthly meeting on Aug. 19 at 2 p.m. This month’s program features Dr. Neil Schultz who will speak about “The Historic Old Spring.” The meeting will take place at 201 Locust St. in the Early Voting Room. All are invited to attend.

Blood Assurance will be holding blood drives in the following locations on the specified dates:

Aug. 8 – Tennessee College of Applied Technology (9 a.m. to 1 p.m.)

Aug. 10 – Ascension St. Thomas River Park Hospital (1 p.m. to 6 p.m.)

Aug. 11 – Fairview Community Center (12 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.)


The Warren County Nurse Honor Guard are volunteers of both active and retired registered nurses and licensed practical nurses who are passionate in recognizing individuals who have dedicated their lives to the profession of nursing through a ceremonial activity at the request of the individual’s family. The tribute is free. The group can be contacted on its Facebook page.


Proverbs 31 Woman in a Psalms 31 World ministry holds its Humble Beginnings Cookie Ministry meetings on the second Sat. of each month. Included in the service is the preparation and packaging of cookies that are taken to current inmates of the local jails. The meetings take place at Helping Hands Ministry located at 216 E. Main Street beginning at 10 a.m., and all attendees are asked to enter through the Heavenly Closet entrance. Donations of cookies, cookie dough and labels are always welcome contributions. The group invites all interested parties to contact Bridget King at 931-414-8806 for more information.


Applications for the Baby Show at the Warren County A&L Fair are now available at the following locations: Ashley’s Attic, Evelyn Taylor, Intrigue, Red Door Boutique, Red Door Kids, Trendy Trunk Too, Southern Standard, Upton’s Bridal & Formal Boutique and Warren Co. Extension Office. Completed forms and a $25 registration fee without a picture or a $35 registration fee with a picture for the Southern Standard. Applications along with payment must be postmarked by Aug. 26, 2023 and mailed to: AAUW, P.O. Box 7053, McMinnville, TN 37111. No late applications will be accepted.
