March 2

The Morrison Ruritan Club annual fish supper for Relay for Life will be on Sat. March 2 from 5 to 7:30 p.m. at the Ruritan Building at 121 W. Maple St. The club asks for donations instead of a set price and the proceeds will go directly to the Warren County Chapter of Relay for Life. Carry-out dinners are also available. 


Morrison Ruritan is now accepting nominations for this year’s Citizen of the Year Award. Sat. March 2 is the deadline for nominations. Nominations can be mailed to Ruritan president Mike Holland at 1796 Cooper Road Morrison, TN 37357. The envelope should be marked “citizen of the year,” to ensure the envelope makes it to the judges, unopened, for their consideration. Nominations are to be made by the general public, and the nominee must live in the Morrison area or have some past or present connection with the community. The Ruritan also states the nominees will be judged on church work, community activities, public service or a combination of all three categories.


March 7

The quarterly Extension Agricultural Committee meeting will be on Thursday, March 7 at 5 p.m. at the Warren County Administrative Building Magnolia Room. Anyone interested in attending, please call (931) 473-8484 prior to the meeting date.

Ladies of all ages are invited to attend Friendship The Baptist Church's 11th Annual Ladies Day at 11821 Sparta Hwy. Rock Island on Saturday, March 9 beginning at 8 a.m. Multiple vendors will have products for sale. The first 100 attendees receive a free gift. Junior Auxiliary's Hopping Into Health will be held Saturday, March 9 at the Milner Recreation Center from noon to 2 p.m. Local businesses will be providing healthy information for children. There will be prizes and the Easter Bunny will be available for photos.


March 14

The Warren County Retired Teachers Association (WCRTA) will have a meeting on Thursday, March 14 at 10 a.m. in the Magnolia Room at the Warren County Administrative Building. The program will feature Dr. Jeff McKinley, D.C. sharing about fall prevention and other topics of interest to seniors. Refreshments will be provided by the WCRTA. The Class of 1974’s 50th year reunion is scheduled to take place across three days. On May 24, the class will meet for a tour of Warren County Middle School at 3 p.m. followed by a social mixer at Smooth Rapids at 5 p.m. where food can be bought. On May 25, the class will convene at The Detention at 6 p.m. The final day of the reunion will take place on May 26 at River Front Park from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Each ticket for the reunion is $45/85 if paid before March 10 and $50/95 if paid after. Checks can be sent to the Class of 1974.


The Sons of Confederate Veterans meet every 2nd Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. at the DeKalb County complex Building – UTT extension. The March guest speaker will be Tom Wood. The public is welcome to attend.


The Church of Christ at Bluff Springs invites the public to a grief and depression seminar "Overcoming ... Living with Grief" each Monday in March at 6:30 p.m. Food and drinks will be offered at 6 p.m. It is not a worship service, just friends and neighbors discussing struggles and consulting the Bible.
