Monday, Feb. 24

The regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners for McMinnville Housing Authority will be held at the Rebel Hill Community Room. The meeting begins at 6 p.m. and is open to the public. 


A community prayer group will meet at 7 p.m. at the fountain on Main Street. The event is open to everyone. Leading the prayer will be Willie Cameron and/ or Ben Wiles.


Tuesday, Feb. 25

American Red Cross will be holding a blood drive at Caney Fork Electric Cooperative on Smithville Highway from 2 to 6 p.m. 


Thursday, Feb. 27

A book review will be offered at Rock Island Cumberland Presbyterian Church at 2 p.m. Dr. Bill Campbell will present a 45-minute review of the book “American Lion – Andrew Jackson in the White House.” The session is open to everyone. Light refreshments will be service afterward. 


Saturday, Feb. 29

A Black History Month town hall meeting and book signing will be held at Magness Library. The book signing begins at 10 a.m., followed by the town hall meeting at 11 a.m. This year’s Black History Month theme is African Americans and the Vote. Discussed will be the importance of the establishing a Black History Museum in Warren County, its role and mission. Authors Wayne R. Wolford and Mickey Gwyn will be in attendance.  


The WCGHA Cemetery Preservation Committee will be back at Hopewell Cemetery to continue its work.  Cleanup will begin at 9 a.m. and will continue until around 1 p.m. Volunteers are asked to bring gloves, wheelbarrows, stiff rakes, hand pruners and loppers. All volunteers will be required to sign a waiver. Volunteers under age 18 must have waiver signed by parent/ guardian. Bring your own water and bug spray. The Bryan College Chorale and Chamber Singers will present a concert of sacred choral music on Sunday, March 8 at 6 p.m. at First United Methodist Church, 200 W. Main Street.   


B&B Bird Watchers will meet at Topz on Main Street on the last Tuesday of the month at 6:30 p.m. All bird watchers are welcome to attend. For more information, contact Bruce Atnip at 409-2035.


VFW Post 5064 Auxiliary meetings are being held at Moose Lodge on Smithville Highway on the third Thursday of each month.
