An official correction has been made by the county Policy and Personnel Committee.
In early January, members mistakenly reappointed Commissioner Wayne Copeland to the county Audit Committee. However, he was never a member of that committee and the individual that should have been reappointed was Wayne Cantrell with Emily Horton and Danny Martin.
Commissioner Tommy Savage, chair, apologized for the error.
“I apologize, very much, for making that error,” said Savage. “When you make a mistake, admit it and then get on with life.”
County Executive Herschel Wells stated, “That’s right.”
In order to right the wrong, members had to rescind the motion that appointed Copeland, Horton and Martin earlier in the month and approve a motion to appoint Cantrell, Horton and Martin – both motions were made and unanimously approved.
The trio will serve four-year terms until 2022. Audit Committee members meet annually to review the state’s audit of Warren County government and make recommendations for improvement, if any issues are found.
