Industrial Development Board chairman Jenny Nafrada was questioned on the status of the steel company potentially coming to Morrison during the County Commission meeting Monday night.
During the meeting, Commissioner Steven Helton requested an update on the steel company, McNeilus Steel, which is potentially coming to W. Maple Street in Morrison. McNeilus Steel has purchased the land and is waiting for the land to be rezoned from agricultural to industrial.
“I would like you to update us on the steel company in Morrison and sort of where we’re at there. I know that we have another meeting in the town of Morrison to rezone and I think that’s at the end of the month. What is the IDB’s standpoint on the steel company? I know there are PILOT programs potentially there. Where are we at with that?” asked Helton.
“Where we are at is we are waiting to see if that land is going to get rezoned. We can’t really do anything until we know that. There have been incentives discussed. The extent of those incentives has not been decided. That is something that won’t be decided without the commission's support,” said Nafrada.
The meeting where Morrison was going to hold the final vote on the rezoning of the land has been canceled and a rescheduled date has not been decided.
