Adorable Claire Breedlove emerged from a field of 37 contestants on Tuesday night to win the title of Little Fairest of the Fair.
Claire, 7, fought back tears of joy as she was crowned by previous winner Josee Lopez in front of a cheering grandstand.
For her on-stage question, Claire was asked, “What is your favorite song and why?”
She answered, “My favorite song is ‘Fight Song’ because I think it’s just a beautiful song and it gets you pumped.”
Claire is a second-grader at Covenant Academy. She said her favorite subject is math and her favorite food is spaghetti. In addition to pageants, she enjoys competitive cheer.
“I’m a flyer,” she said and added she doesn’t get scared when she’s lifted into the air.
Claire is the daughter of Mike and Elaine Breedlove.
Claiming first runner-up was Nia Rich. Other members of the court are second runner-up Malaya Taylor, third runner-up Averly Mullins, and Miss Congeniality Sissy Martinez.
In addition to those girls the judges picked a top 11 which also included Lily Looper, Sophia Pepper, Moni Harris, Ava Willett, Tylee Herriman, Karigan Patrick, and Macie Pepper.
The pageant was delayed an hour due to a driving rainstorm which pounded the fairgrounds and left much of the parking areas full of mud holes and trenches. Several fair booths closed during the rain and did not reopen.
Activity on the midway was extremely light Tuesday night with only a few people boarding the carnival rides.
