Water Department director Anthony Pelham says the city has been denied CDBG funds.
McMinnville officials are attempting to end a losing streak when it comes to attaining Community Development Block Grants.Water Department director Anthony Pelham says the city has been denied CDBG funds for water and sewer upgrades over the last two years due to its past success in obtaining those grants so he’s lending a hand in helping Fire Department director Kendall Mayfield in applying.“I’m trying to assist Kendall in the pursuit of a 2017 Community Development Block Grant where we have applied and failed in the last couple of years on water and sewer projects. We have become more efficient and basically uncompetitive in pursuing water and sewer grants,” said Pelham.Mayor Jimmy Haley added, “We’ve done too well.”The information was presented to the city’s Safety Committee. Community Development Block Grants (CDBG) are administered as part of three primary programs.
