Attorney Tim Pirtle will be reimbursed $3,667 a month by the city of McMinnville for computer issues involving his hourly pay.
“Our attorney lost about 15 to 18 months of data that had his charges on it for the city,” said Alderman Everett Brock, to members of the Board of Mayor and Aldermen. “So, what we did was use the city’s IT guy to get it back, but that didn’t work.”
In order to arrive at a fair dollar amount, the previous known 18 months of payments were averaged.
“We agreed in committee to pay him that average rate, which I think was $3,667 or $3,666,” said Brock. “That passed committee. If you have any questions about how we came to that amount, I’d be glad to explain it.”
Board members unanimously approved $3,667 a month for the months in which the actual amount is unknown.
The computer issues also prompted consideration for changing the city’s agreement with Pirtle from hourly to a monthly retainer beginning January 2020. That item of business was on the agenda for Finance Committee members to discuss, but was tabled at the request of Pirtle.
“I have gone back and accumulated some information that I would like to verify with the city recorder before we address this issue,” said Pirtle. “If you can pass on it until the first meeting in December, because I won’t be here for the second meeting in November.”
Brock verbally agreed to add that item of business. However, the committee’s meeting time in December has yet to be determined.
