Though it was not the streets of Disney, the sound and sentiment of the Warren County High School choir resonated the same. Each year since 2015, the Select Choir, which is an audition group, has participated in the Epcot’s Candlelight Processional at Florida’s Disney World, but COVID has interrupted the 2020 and 2021 performances.

Since Disney was not in the cards for the 2021 Christmas performance, the entire choir delighted those in attendance at the Monday night performance at WCHS auditorium.  Due to the anticipation of heavy attendance, the 170-member choir offered a double bill of the holiday program. The choir entertained with Christmas melodies, including “Walking in a Winter Wonderland,” “Frosty the Snowman,” “Santa Claus is Coming to Town” and more.

The choir is under the direction of Kennette Dixon. The group requires four vocal music classes and the Select Ensemble classes to encompass the 170 members.

“These kids are such fun. They are a great group and work so very hard. Monty Childers helps me with behind-the-scene arrangements, and he is amazing,” said Dixon.

Disney has announced the reopening of youth programs in March of 2022, and the Warren County High School Select portion of the choir has plans of packing their talents and returning to Florida.

More details of that journey are expected in the upcoming weeks.
