With classes for all ages, the series runs this Sunday, June 9, through Wednesday, with programs each evening from 6 to 8:00 pm.

From a galaxy far, far away, Soul Wars is on a trajectory to hit McMinnville.

Touchdown will be Sunday evening at Central Church of Christ as the Star Wars-themed vacation Bible school welcomes children and adults into a movie world with spiritual lessons lasting a lifetime.

"Soul Wars – A Light to the Dark" is a hands-on, immersive experience reflecting the cosmic warfare between good and evil, God’s way versus the world’s temptations, explained Josh Pierce, youth director at the downtown church.

“From the first chapters of Genesis to the last chapter of Revelation, the Holy Bible depicts this constant struggle between good and evil for control of the human soul,” Pierce noted.  “Millions around the world have seen the classic films in the 'Star Wars' series.

“The movies don’t mention God or Satan, but the meaning is clear.   Which will we choose in our lives — good or evil?”

With costumed characters from the movies, Central’s VBS will feature a transporter “that carries kids to the Dark Star,” the youth director said.   But of course, all are guaranteed a safe journey back to the good side.

Hands-on activities will allow kids to build their own "light savers" which they can take home with them as souvenirs of their flights through intergalactic space.

Food and snacks will be provided all three evenings of VBS, starting at 6 p.m. and ending at 8 p.m., June 9-12.

Parents and guardians can register their children at the Morford Street or North Spring Street foyers of the Central building, located just north of the Warren County Courthouse.
