The Goodson-Mullican Cemetery has been located.

“We appreciate everyone who helped us with this endeavor,” said Ann Brown, a member of Warren County Genealogical and Historical Association.

Association members are working on a Cemeteries of Warren County Project to develop an accurate list of cemeteries in the county, a large endeavor given that the county has over 200 cemeteries. Members discovered a cemetery referenced in the archives called Goodson-Mullican Cemetery but the location was vague.

Brown said the exact location of the cemetery is being withheld due to it being on private property.

Cemeteries are being classified as active, inactive, endangered or destroyed. Goodson-Mullican has been classified as inactive.

“We haven’t been to see it yet,” said Brown. “We are planning a visit for later this spring. It is definitely inactive, but we won’t know its condition until we inspect it.”

According to records, the cemetery hasn’t been used since 1924. From 1843 to that year, 12 burials were identified: R.T. McWhirter (1848-1870), Memphis Goodson (1848-1865), Tansy E.A. Goodson (1824-1879), Andrew Goodson (1814-1892), Martha B. Goodson (1855-1885), Elisie Goodson (1874-1907), Anna Mooneyham (1847-1924), W.W. Mullican (1820-1912), Lucinda Mullican (1818-1891), Sallie Mullican (1844-1882), Elizabeth Mullican (1853-1875), and William Mullican (1843-1843).
