Wet boots helped deputies crack the case after a man fled the scene of a wreck and then tried to claim his car had been stolen.The suspect, Juan Domingo Sales, 23, will go for hearing before General Sessions Judge Bill Locke this Tuesday on charges of filing a false report, evading arrest, driving without a license, and leaving the scene of an accident.Sales faces the charges after he allegedly wrecked his vehicle on Old Smithville Highway. “The driver said ‘no license, don’t call the police’ to a witness,” reported sheriff’s deputy Calvin Hammond, noting the man then ran off before officers arrived to investigate. “We started looking for him in a nursery field but he couldn’t be found.”The officers noticed the driver had ripped the license tag off the wrecked Honda Civic.
