Local Sears safe from store closings

Ellen Woods has operated Ellie Michellies in downtown Morrison for three years. Now shes expanding to downtown McMinnville to serve food on Saturday nights at a new business called The Back Porch Auction House.
In case you were wondering, the news isn’t getting any better for Sears Holding, parent company of department stores Kmart and Sears.On Thursday, Sears Holding announced it would be closing 150 stores in February and March. That includes 108 Kmart and 42 Sears locations.Thankfully, our Sears at Northgate Center is not one of the stores that’s closing. The only two stores to be closed in Tennessee are the Kmart in Morristown and the Sears in Kingsport.Our Sears is a Sears Hometown Store, which is locally owned and operated by Leo and Teresa Barrett.
