Burglar caught in act on video

Caught on video burglarizing a neighbor’s home for half an hour, a local man now faces a felony charge thanks to surveillance cameras.The man, Christopher Michael Oliver, 39, is charged with aggravated burglary for an incident that happened on Park Avenue.The resident realized something was amiss when he returned home to find a wheelbarrow full of his tools in his backyard.“He went inside and watched video and observed a male come from the neighbor’s house and then come to his address and look through the windows,” said McMinnville police detective Stuart Whitman, noting the suspect then tried to gain entry to the victim’s house. “He tried to get in his front door with a piece of cardboard and then a piece of metal.”The video then showed the suspect getting under a vehicle in the backyard for some reason. “(The homeowner) watched this person for over 30 minutes walk in his backyard,” the detective reported, noting he was able to identify the man in the video as Oliver.The detective talked to the suspect who confessed to being there. “He admitted that he was there and that it was him on the video.”Oliver could face three to six years in prison for the Class C felony if he is convicted.
