Brookside Head Start, a school providing free child development programs to all children ages 3 to 5 who qualify, including those with disabilities, is accepting applications for the upcoming school year.

Applications are currently being accepted for the 2020-21 school year at Brookside Head Start, which provides free, comprehensive child development services to all children ages 3 to 5, including children with disabilities in a full day program.

Although appointments can be made at any time to apply, April 2-3 will allow individuals to walk in without appointment from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. both days.

Although Head Start is a program primarily designed for low-income children and their families, any family can apply if the child meets the age requirements, and families are encouraged to do so. Every family situation is different and Head Start doesn’t want to discourage families from coming out just because they feel they may not meet the income guidelines.

LBJ&C Head Start also focuses on family well-being. Head Start assists families in obtaining their GED, furthering education, seeking employment, obtaining affordable housing, and providing assistance in other aspects of life improvement.

Students are provided a structured schedule with opportunities for free play, gross motor activities and group physical movement. Breakfast, lunch and snack are provided daily. School readiness and the well-being of children is the primary goal.
