Residents traveling to Murfreesboro this weekend should avoid the intersection of Broad Street and Memorial Boulevard/Old Fort Parkway. It will be closed from Nov. 3 at 8 p.m. to Nov. 6 at 5 a.m.
There will be a signed detour provided around the downtown area for thru traffic. Drivers will be able to access businesses around the intersection closure. Law enforcement officers will help direct traffic as needed.
According to Tennessee Department of Transportation spokesperson Kathryn Schulte, the closure is necessary to pave.
“TDOT is planning to close the bridge over Broad intersection during the weekend of Nov. 3-6 for milling and paving, weather permitting,” she said. “This closure will be similar to the weekend closures we had during the summer.”
The project is currently on schedule to wrap up at the end of this year.
As always, motorists are urged to use caution, reduce speed, and be alert to changing road conditions in construction zones.
