American Legion Boys and Girls State delegates have been selected for 2017.Boys and Girls State are premier programs for teaching how government works, while developing leadership skills and an appreciation of the rights and responsibilities of citizenship.From May 21 through June 3, delegates from across the state will be involved in this summer program that allows them to run for office, learn public speaking, draft and debate legislation, and actively participate in all phases of creating and running a working government.Boys State delegates are Bunker Brock, Noah Campbell, Isaiah Grayson, Grant Hitchcock, Robert Humphrey, James Jackson, Jaydon Brantley, Alexander Jones, Jackson Noblin, and Jaeden Pyburn.Boys sponsors are First National Bank, Citizens Tri-County Bank, Homeland Community Bank, Rock Island Lions Club, Evening Exchange Club, Breakfast Rotary Club, Noon Rotary Club, Bill Holt Chevrolet, Morrison Ruritan Club, and Kidd Ford. It cost $250 per boy delegate.Girls State delegates are Warren County High School students Allison Cripps, Bethany Fye, Lucy McGee and Sally Willmore, Covenant Academy student Chloe Hillis, and Boyd Christian student Hannah Young. Alternates, or substitutes for any girl who cannot go are Abigail Mathis, Samantha Davis, Gabrielle Van Wormer, and Morgan Young.
