Students at Warren County High School will be able to turn off their devices and tune in old-time fun as they have been given the go ahead to start a game club to be made of exclusively of classic board games.“It’s one more option they will have,” said Director of Schools Bobby Cox in recommending the Board of Education give the nod to the club being sponsored by Dawn Winton. The new club, it was explained to the School Board, would be much like the chess clubs of past years where students convene after school to match wits over a board. However, the game club is to be much more encompassing as it will allow for all sorts of board games. Some of the games bantered about for the new club, along with the normal chess, checkers and spades, include classics like Dungeons and Dragons and Yu-Gi-Oh.“It will be non-electronic board games,” Cox explained. Those wishing to join the club will be required to perform five hours of public service. The games will be played after school and those joining the club will have to meet the criteria required for all other extracurricular clubs.
