McMinnville officials will know in a couple of weeks how much it will cost to renovate two of its four outdoor tennis courts.

“The bids for the tennis courts went out Sept. 27,” said McMinnville Parks and Recreation Department director Scott McCord.

To be renovated are the two courts on the upper end near Hoover-Millraney Field. Deadline for bid submittal is Oct. 16. When that date passes, the bids will be opened and actual cost of the project will be known.

City officials placed $100,000 into the department’s budget over a year ago to serve up some love to the deteriorating courts.

As a cost-saving measure, McMinnville Public Works Department employees removed five layers of old asphalt in May. Over the years, those layers were added rather than replacement. The end result was a top layer that cracked and was uneven because the layers underneath were failing.

In August, officials named the tennis complex after David Dunlap and a court after his grandson.
