A pair of bail bondsmen face grand theft charges for allegedly pocketing money they were being paid to get people out of jail and hiding the income from the company they worked for.The defendants, Danny Ray Elrod and his stepdaughter, Samantha Gaybrielle Whittaker were named in sealed indictments returned by the Warren County grand jury. They are charged with two counts of theft over $10,000.According to Sheriff’s Investigator Steven Carpenter, the pair were employed by Cumberland Bonding Company as bail bonding agents. Their job was sign bonds for those who could pay to get out of jail on bail.
