A local man was arrested Sunday after allegedly attacking his girlfriend, holding her hostage and telling her “if you try to leave, I will have you taken care of.”

The man then assaulted his own sister, who was trying to help the victim.

Jeffrey S. Grissom, 46, was charged with aggravated assault, domestic assault and false imprisonment after he allegedly choked his girlfriend, held her with both of his arms throughout the night to prevent her from leaving and threatened her. Grissom also attacked his sister when she tried to help his girlfriend.

According to the arrest warrant, the victim claimed she was lying on the couch with Grissom, her boyfriend, when he accused her of cheating on him. The victim denied the claim, and Grissom became angry, getting on top of her and beginning to choke her with both hands until she couldn’t breathe. The victim said she tried to fight off Grissom, but had a hard time getting him off her due to being partially paralyzed on her right arm from a stroke.

The police report says Grissom told the victim “I just want to hold you.” He finally got off her, and then wrapped both of his arms around her so she couldn’t move. The victim kept asking Grissom to let her go so she could leave. He refused.

The victim spent the entire night with Grissom as he held her tight with both arms so she couldn’t move. Grissom finally fell asleep, allowing the victim to get free.

There were obvious scratches on the victim’s neck, the warrant notes, and red marks from where Grissom had reportedly choked her.

A second warrant states Grissom also attacked his sister who had tried to help the victim. Grissom’s sister is friends with the victim.

According to the police report, Grissom’s sister said she wanted to get the victim out of the house to protect her. Grissom became angry and tried to stop his sister from taking the victim home. He ran up to his sister and began screaming in her face. Grissom continued to scream at his sister while she was in her bedroom, and she asked him to get out of the room.

The arrest warrant claims Grissom shoved his sister in the chest with both of his fists. The sister said Grissom is a big man, and when he shoved her, she flew about five feet. During the confrontation, Grissom’s sister’s big toenail on her right foot was torn off. Once she landed on the ground, Grissom got on top of her chest.

The sister’s son came in the room and once he saw what was taking place, he immediately called 911. At that time, Grissom got off his sister’s chest. Grissom’s sister was complaining of pain in her buttocks and toe once deputy Chris McCormick arrived on the scene.

Grissom was booked at Warren County Jail on Sunday at 2:30 p.m. on a $55,000 bond. His initial court appearance took place Tuesday and he was assigned the Public Defender’s Office for his defense. His next court appearance is Oct. 15.
