Van Buren County Rescue.jpg
The Van Buren Rescue Squad building was damaged by fire Thursday morning.

Multiple fire departments responded to an early morning fire Thursday at the Van Buren Rescue Squad building on Highway 111.

Visible smoke was seen exiting the building.

Cedar Grove, Fall Creek Falls, and Piney volunteer departments responded with mutual assistance from Doyle Fire Department.

According to Fire Chief Kevin Bivins of Cedar Grove, the fire was quickly extinguished, with primarily extensive smoke damage to contents and building. Police tape surrounds the perimeter of the building.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the fire marshal and authorities are working to determine if the fire was the result of arson and if any items are missing from the building.

No injuries were sustained by responders.
