Animal Control renamed

Warren County Animal Control will have “and Adoption Center” added to its name.
The full Warren County Commission changed the name to Warren County Animal Control and Adoption Center with a vote of 21-2 on Monday night.
Voting against changing the facility’s name were Commissioners Michael Martin and Charles Morgan. Absent was Commissioner Ron Lee.
Commissioner Blaine Wilcher proposed the name change in February during a Health and Welfare Committee meeting due to the facility taking in 856 animals in 2015 and of those, 710 were adopted or sent to rescue groups.
His motion at that time to change the name was met with resistance, failing due to lack of a second from fellow committee members Michael Martin, chairman, Linda Jones and Tommy Savage.
The measure made its way to the full Warren County Commission after another committee meeting ended with members voting 4-0 to send the measure to all commissioners for their consideration.
Wilcher expressed appreciation to the County Commission for changing the name and says the proposed addition of “and Adoption Center” could be making its way to the city of McMinnville for its McMinnville Animal Control.
“Now on to better things,” said Wilcher on Tuesday. “I will be getting with the business that wants to donate the new signage today. I hope we see an immediate growth in donations and public support for this. Also, I will be working with the city to make the same name change soon.”
Warren County Animal Control and Adoption Center is located at 169 Paws Trail and can be reached at 507-3647.
