A man who made a three into an eight has escaped jail time but will be doing community service work. The man, Brandon Leverett, 32, was granted a two-year judicial diversion and must pay $500 plus costs and perform 48 hours public service work for fraudulently obtaining drugs. His sentence comes after he apparently tried to change a prescription written to him by his doctor, specifically, the modification of a prescription for the pain killer Percoset. He had received a prescription from his doctor for 30 of the pills; however, when he got the prescription filled at a local pharmacy it had mysteriously changed to 80 pills. The change, it is believed, was made by modifying the three to look like an eight on the script.Leverett was actually caught by his doctor who went on the state website to check the status of the prescription.
