Knife threat costs Shute

A man who allegedly threatened to cut his sister-in-law into “little pieces” was released on time served on domestic assault charges.The defendant, Benjamin D. Shute, 20, was given an 11-month, 29-day sentence by General Sessions Judge Larry Ross. He was credited for the time he has served awaiting trial and was released on probation. As part of his probation he will be required to get mental health counseling and enter the batterer’s intervention program.His sentence comes after police responded to a disturbance call at apartments on Bybee Branch Road.
