Qualifying petitions will be available the day after the Warren County Commission names the immediate successor to retiring General Sessions Judge Larry Ross.“Come one, come all,” said election administrator Donna Smith, who admits she expects a large field to take aim at the vacated judge’s seat. “When a longtime public official retires, you usually have a large field seeking the office.”Smith pointed to the race for the job of retiring property assessor Carolyn Miller, which has 14 candidates, including 11 Democrats, vying for her job.The County Commission will name the interim judge during its meeting Monday, Jan. 16. The person who wins the commission’s appointment to the judgeship will serve until Sept. 1.
